Revitol Stretch Mark Cream: Does it really work?

by Kelly Williams on January 26, 2012

Hello ladies and expectant mothers!

First of all, if you’re reading this and are pregnant, congratulations on your baby! Second, you’re probably here because you’re looking for creams to help you lose or prevent getting stretch marks, especially the popular product Revitol Stretch Mark Cream. Like you, I also wanted to learn more about it, but most of the reviews out there are either misleading or don’t offer enough information. It contains both positive and negative aspects of the cream that I discovered through my research. We’ve left no stone unturned here, and hopefully by the end of it you’ll be well informed to make a good decision whether this is the product that will make you lose those unsightly scars or not. Let’s take a look at it shall we?

What is Revitol Stretch Mark Prevention Cream?

Revitol Stretch Mark Cream is a topical ointment developed by the company Revitol to treat stretch marks. Revitol has been in the skin care industry for close to a decade now and is one of the leading experts in the field. This cream is their latest popular product targeted towards pregnant women who experience stretch marks during their baby’s growth. However, it also works on existing marks caused by other reasons.

It differs from other brands out there mainly because of two unique traits:

  1. Revitol is a bona fide member of the Natural Products Association, which means that every ingredient inside the cream is all-natural and is less likely to cause allergies and side effects. Revitol assures us in their official statement that the cream isn’t dangerous to the fetus and has been thoroughly tested with guaranteed clinical results.
  2. It supposedly works on old stretch marks as well. The company claims that the cream can be used as a preventative measure but also has the capacity to treat existing scars, although the older the scar the more time needed to eliminate it.

How does this cream treat stretch marks?

According to a number of books and online sources, stretch marks are typically obtained during pregnancy when the baby starts to grow at such a fast pace that it stretches the abdomen beyond the skin’s elastic capacity. Many of the underlying skin tissues get torn up because of this rapid stretching, and once the tears heal, the result are scars commonly called stretch marks.

This particular Stretch Mark Cream from Revitol works by helping the skin cope with the pressure caused by the growing fetus by making the underlying dermal tissue more elastic and durable. They improve the production of the skin’s elastin and collagen fibers, making the skin more flexible and better suited to handle stretching. Based on the official website, the components inside the cream are as follows:

All of them are natural ingredients taken from plant and fruit extracts. Specifically, the ingredients Vitamin A, and Vitamin E penetrate the skin and help to support its tone and structure to better resist tearing. Vitamin D3 and the 10% Squalene Oil allow the skin to accommodate the rapid growth during pregnancy, while the aloe vera acts as a moisturizer and heals minor tears quickly. The ingredients work together harmoniously to help improve the texture and elasticity of your skin and prevent the marks from forming.

FYI, I have a complimentary post to this one that discusses stretch mark removal in general over here.
